Day-11 at Wimbledon means one thing and one thing alone, that is, gentlemen’s singles semi-finals !
First match on Centre court saw Novak Djokovic dominate Richard Gasquet. The Frenchman tried everything from everywhere on court but the world no.1 was just too good for him. Novak booked his place in the finals in just 2 hours and 21 minutes.
Second match of the day certainly looked as the more competitive match on paper. However, when the Swiss maestro started performing magic tricks with his Wilson wand, Andy could do nothing but watch and admire. What many predicted as a five setter before the match, were left speechless with the quality of stroke making by the World No.2 . Roger Federer fired 56 winners and committed only 11 unforced errors in the entire match. He just makes it look so easy and so effortless. It is pure genius.
Now, what this means is that we have a final between Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic.
Yeah, both of them are okayish players, they can play fine tennis and might give us one or two good moments in the match.
What! No! They are not okayish players, they are the best two players in the world ! They will not play fine tennis, they will play magical tennis ! This is a second consecutive Wimbledon final between the two ! Last year was a great battle with Djokovic just edging it in the fifth set. The final scoreline was 6-7(7) 6-4 7-6(4) 5-7 6-4. This year, expect nothing less. For Djokovic it means defending the precious Wimbledon title and for Federer it means creating history. Federer has won this trophy an incredible 7 times, which equals him with Pete Sampras. A win this year will set a new record and perhaps the greatest record at the grandest stage of them all…
Wimbledon, where every day is a day in history…
